I sat down tonight to write a pantoum

Each line must be octosyllabic

To follow the normal custom

If I err please don’t be a critic

Should I rhyme the right line when

I stand up tonight to recite a pantoum

Or is it okay to deviate from the rules quite a lot

And not follow the normal custom.
